One position major scales
These scales are so called because they allow you to play scales without moving position (unlike the three notes per string versions). Knowing these scales allows you to play a major scale staring from any string with any finger. So they are:
- more useful when sight reading, because you don't tend to get lost as easily,
- slightly easier to visualise,
- easier to see standard arpeggio and chord shapes in.
BUT they are not as easy to play quickly and develop flashy licks with.
