Qualifications

Thirty years playing experience.
Author of a successful rock guitar tutor book.
First class BA honours degree in jazz from the City of Leeds College of Music.
My final dissertation was on the subject of how to teach improvisation based on research into neurology, linguistics and skills training and their application to teaching methods.
Grade 8 classical guitar.
Two A-levels in practical and theoretical music.
Grade 3 piano.
I hold full enhanced disclosure CRB.

Private Guitar Tuition since 1985 to all levels in styles of classical, jazz, rock, pop, blues, folk and flamenco music to pupils ranging in age from 7 to 83.
Currently teaching at Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham High School, Arnold Hill School.
Four years peripatetic guitar teaching at schools: Carlton le Willows, Sherwood Hall, Trent College, Arno Vale Junior, Burton Joyce Junior, Carlton Central Junior, Good Shepherd Catholic Junior, High Pavement Sixth Form College.
Fully trained secondary school teacher with three years classroom experience teaching key stage 3 (year 7, 8, and 9) as well as GCSE music and A-level music technology - Sutton Centre, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
A-level Music Technology at Nottingham High School and Sutton Centre.
BTEC and HND sound engineering / production / acoustics Confetti Studios, Nottingham.
Evening classes at Clarendon College. Beginners class teaching mostly reading and basic folk and classical technique and 20 week course in rock guitar to a mixed ability class for 2 hours a week.

I have been a fairly regular guest performer in folk clubs and festivals up and down the country (though not for some time as I have been focusing on teaching).

Various rock and pop groups since 1984 performing mostly in pubs and clubs. Styles ranging through funk, heavy metal, pop, rock, blues and folk. I have played lead guitar, bass and have also sung in most of these bands.
Various restaurants including a residency for 6 months in 1985 at Gas Lights Restaurant, Tunbridge Wells playing classical, flamenco and folk music.
1994 Clarendon College Opera as Dr Falke in Der Fledermause.
1995 The Royal Concert Hall Nottingham as part of the Nottingham Guitar Festival.
